Two Trips in one part 2

Part 2 is Sunday to Tuesday – Whitby.  We left Craster on a damp  breezy day with high winds forecast later and had a steady away drive to Whitby including the Tyne Tunnel, which we expected to pay £3.20 for but were actually charged £1.60.  We had £3.20 ready, so had to scrabble for changed as there was no change give.  Fortunately no-one was behind us.  We pitched up in Whitby and Ross Claire and Harry arrived swiftly.  Sandwiches for lunch and birthday cake and presents then off for a tromp round Whitby and a visit to the grabbers for a prize for Harry.  2015-03-29 13.47.16We invested serious money to get a Svven from Frozen toy, but winning was everything.  Later we crammed into a tiny pub for a couple of pints the on to the Khyber Pass fish restaurant for supper.  Amazing F&C as always and some of us were greedy and had pudding.  Walked back to the B&B and then decided to walk the coastal path back to the campsite getting drenched in the process, quickly followed by sunset tinged fantastic sea view and clouds.2015-03-29 19.12.45  Sandra had had a lovely birthday (which was the main thing).

2015-03-29 19.16.50Monday saw us all in Ross’s car off to Sandsend for a beach walk and lunch followed by a trip to Staithes, pub and a sad departure.  Monday night the wind got up!! 50-60 mph was forecast and we definitely got that. Lots of buffeting in the night lots of heavy rain and not much sleep.  Tuesday saw us wondering if we should stay longer or brave the roads.  The wind had dropped a little, but was forecast bad again later so we decided to set off.  Heidi was fine and we went accross the moors to Great Ayton, the A19 and home.
