Two Trips in one

We planned to go to Scotland for Sandra’s birthday weekend.  We were going to go just round the corner near Dumfries then over to near Stranrar, Up to Ayr and I dont know where else.  A few days before we set off things changed in that we were to visit Harry on our way up.  Just after that things changed again (lucky we are flexible and hadn’t booked anywhere yet) and we were going to have to be in Whitby Sunday and Monday as Ross Claire and Harry were having two nights in Whitby in a B&B and wanted to see Sandra on her birthday ( Sunday 29th March).

Plan C therefore was 3 nights in Northumberland (Craster was favourite) then back to Whitby for 2 nights.  We stopped at Procter Steads Camp site in Dunstan next to Craster.  Arrived after a breezy journey and parked up near a hedge.

Unfortunately there were pigeons roosting in the hedge and they got up at first light which was about 5 am, so first job next day was to move away from the hedge.  The field was shortish grass but we and Heidi slips on next to nothing, so although we had several places we liked, we though we had better go somewhere we could move from when time came to go.  So we move here:

We had a lovely 2 days of warmish weather and sunshine.  It was quite breezy.  We rediscovered the Cottage Inn in Dunstan and went for some snacks and a pint on Thursday night and again on Saturday for a full meal.  Well I say full, but actually we ordered small portions.  Poachers Pot … yummy, including free shot for authenticity.  On Friday we walked to Embleton Beach and had a good explore, picnic lunch then walked along the coast to Craster.

Tea in the Shorehouse tea rooms and home.  Saturday we had a shorter walk into Craster, pootled around a bit, tea rooms again, then home.

Very wet in the night then onto the second part of our trip.
