Rippon

Our first test run – a weekend near Rippon.

Slenningford WaterMill – a beautiful if a little pricey site near West Tanfield, North Yorkshire.  The weather was set fair and we tried to book at a couple of other sites, but everyone else was having the same idea.  The site was easy to get to – 10 mins off the A1 so plenty of opportunity to practice left hand drive.  I put a couple of bits of white tape next to the windscreen to mark where the edge of the road was and this helped with increasing awareness of road position.

Pitched up on pitch 4 opposite the toilet block with the site quite peaceful and sunny, next to the river Ure.  The masses started to arrive later Friday afternoon, with a steady stream of vans, caravans and cars with tents.  There are a number of pitches suited to groups on a long site which follows the river for about 400 yards.

Heidi was great – everything worked!  Electric hookup, fridge, lights, toilet cassette, everything.  Started making lists of jobs to do.
