Neil and Clare have moved from being Devon Danglers to Norfolk Nibblers. They are renting with a view to buying in Hingham near to Norwich. They needed a visit.
We planned to break the journey half way down and half way back and it was an opportunity to check out some new areas. We booked here for a stop overnight on the way down but when we arrived we were horrified. The campsite was very unlevel, full and we felt like complete strangers arriving with unwelcoming stares, and there were hoards of kids. We turned round and drove away. Where now. There was another site nearby – The Lawns Caravan & Camping site – with lakes, but when we arrive it looked closed. We had a look around and there were a couple of vans there. We bravely buzzed at the gate and the owner arrived on a lawn mower and after a bit we negotiated a lovely spot near the lake. In between heavy showers we walked to the pub which was a little unrewarding with strange beers and odd decoration and no food!
Onward to Hingham, but first a stop at Kings Lynn for a coffee and wander round.
Hingham is a lovely town with 2 village greens and all you need – pub, chip shop, green grocers, take-away, co-op, baker and a couple of antique shops and a Boots! The pub was nice but dont have moussaka!! We had a look around Norfolk too visiting Clare’s mums and lunch at The Gunton Arms which was full of Tracey Emin art work and others.
Time to come home and we had decided to do it in one – just to see what that was like. And it was ok – took about 4 hours to drive it. It was a very windy Saturday – so probably not the best day but an ok journey.
