We no longer have to go to Devon, because the Devon Danglers have moved to Norfolk – we visited in Litcham last summer where they had rented a cottage. They moved in December and we were about to visit the week Boris locked us down. As soon as lock-down lifted we lobbied for a midweek date and set off on July 27th. Overnight stop at the Lawns which we discovered last year. This time the site was full!! It was strange travelling in this new world of face masks and hand gel and some people caring and other less so. Only one night and it was fairly quiet and we had a wander round looking at vans.
On we went the next day to Hingham where they live now. It was a simple journey except for King’s Lynn which has perpetual traffic problems, so we were delayed by about 35 minutes. We pitched up on a lovely CL site in Hingham, about 400 yards from Neil and Clare’s house. They came for coffee and we went back to their’s for lunch, had a walk and we went to the pub for the first time since March 11th. (Which was also the last time we saw my mum, who died in May and we couldn’t visit because of COVID-19 restrictions). Lovely. This was the start of falling in love with CL (certified Location) sites. They are caravan club sites which are limited to 5 pitches and must have water and black waste disposal points. Most are dog friendly and most have hook up. We booked in at one near Woodhall Spa on the way home for a different route and a change. This cemented our love as this was another CL site.
Home the following day via Lincoln, but I didn’t enjoy the traffic and the A1 was aweful.
