Standard Devon trip. Tewkesbury on way down and back and a couple of nights or 3 in Neil & Clare’s drive. Added bonus this time a night in my sister’s drive!
Good weather on trip down although Tewkesbury was very damp around the field. We had a nice drive to my sisters in Langport – Huish Episcopi actually! via Glastonbury where we had a late lunch and fueled up. We also started a disastrous series of events. On the way into Glastonbury I noticed a light flashing on the dashboard and decided it was an oil light. Heidi uses minimal oil and I knew I hadn’t checked for a while so I thought I’ll have a look when we park. Sure enough the oil was down a bit. I had some so I topped up. The light was still flashing as we set off but I realised it was the fuel light and we needed fuel so that worked then. Filled up and off to Chris’s.
Nice evening with a late curry with Mike and a couple in the Rose and Crown next door. Off to Devon. No problems until I backed up in Neils street to discover oil drips. It was me and I went hot and cold with worry. Parked in the drive and realised I couldn’t remember replacing the oil filler cap in Glastonbury. Checked under the bonnet and I was right. 80 odd miles with oil spraying all over the engine compartment. Not nice. Did a bit of googling and phoning and had to use a foil and jubilee clip temporary fix. I hadn’t lost too much oil however so not all bad. Nice weekend, back to Tewkesbury and home.
At the service stop on the way home the engine started with hesitation in that I turned the ignition, nothing, didn’t think, just off and on again and the engine fired. Same again at home. stopped to unload, went to move the van. Hesitation again, then off. This niggled for a few days until I thought, I’ll just check. This time nothing. No thing.
Now go here!
